School Magazine cover

Final Magazine Cover

Overall I am pleased with how my magazine looks. I think it has a clear and organised layout. I feel that my magazine is organised well and isn't messy. My masthead stands out as does my splash and my header and footer bars. My main image fits well with the magazine and  I think that the magazine is appealing yet informative. It also has a variety of topics which I feel would appeal to the readers.

Final Draft Analysis

Main Image

I have changed my main image to a sixth former. I did this because I thought that having a sixth former on the front would be more effective as they would be in their own clothes and they would have experienced many years of school life. Whereas a year 7 pupil would not have, I think that putting a sixth former shows an example as they are the oldest students in KHS and will set an example for the rest of the school- especially to the younger pupils. 







Splash

I have changed my splash so it fitted in with my main image. Personally I think that being in sixth form is an important part in school life as after this you will be entering the very next important stage in life. I felt that a sixth former has a lot to do within the school as they set an example for younger pupils and they are no longer treated as a child they are treated as an adult who has chosen to continue to stay in school and further their education. People in sixth form are no longer considered as 'pupils' they are now 'students.'

Header and footer bar


I have now included a header bar. I originally only had a footer bar but reflecting on my magazine I wanted to see if including a header looked better and in my opinion it does. I put 'New athletic team

2016' as a new school year calls for a new athletic team and in KHS sport is important. This will also appeal to pupils who perhaps prefer athletics than academic subjects.


I kept the colour red for the font but put it on a black background as I felt this would stand out and make it more eye-catching and bold. I have kept what I originally put on the footer bar the same because I think that talking about tips for stress is important when going to school.

Masthead

I have changed my masthead as I think it suits my magazine better. 'Gossip' is also a word that teenagers constantly use so it suits my target audience of teens very well. I think the font I have used is also more effective than what I had originally as it stands out more and it is different to the rest of the magazine's font making it more eye-catching.

Sell lines

I have added more sell lines because I felt that I didn't have enough on the original one.. I had 4 on the original and now I have 6. I think it looks better on the magazine as it is more filled but it isn't too much either. This also means that my magazine has more of a variety for the readers. I've got Q&A's one with a teacher and one with a sixth former. I've got information for all the years in the school with important dates. I also have included celebrating the pupils of the school with the results and also new pupils starting KHS. I feel this is much better and more informative than my original.





Pug
I have kept my pug the same as I didn't think it needed changing although I have not got the other circle surrounding it but I felt it was not necessary. I have added a date to my magazine so it is more realistic. 






Full cover

Overall I am much more happier with my magazine. I think the changes I have made are good and has made the magazine much more informative than before. I have kept to my original colour scheme as I felt it worked well and was eye-catching. I still think it is well laid out making it easy to read.
